Israeli troops have opened fire on pro-Palestinian demonstrators who allegedly tried using to cross the fence separating Syria from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Syrian state media report at least 20 folks had been killed. Among those documented killed had been a woman and kid. The incident was part of a wave of Palestinian demonstrations marking the 44th anniversary with the 1967 Arab-Israeli war.

Israeli soldiers opened fire after warning numerous demonstrators from Syria to remain away from the barbed wire fence that marks the boundary.

Palestinian demonstrators and their Syrian supporters approached the fence, waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans insisting the land Israel captured inside the 1967 war is Arab land.

The demonstration has long been planned for weeks, and Israel had ready by deploying 1000s of soldiers and reinforcing the fence. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu explained he instructed safety forces to act with “maximum restraint.”

He said ‘extremist forces’ bordering Israel are trying to breach its borders and threaten its communities and citizens. He stressed Israel is not going to allow them do that.

Activists known as the demonstrations to mark the anniversary in the 1967 war by which Israel fought Jordan, Syria, and Egypt, and won control from the West Financial institution, East Jerusalem, the Golan Heights, the Gaza Strip, along with the Sinai Peninsula. 

Israel has given that returned the Sinai to Egypt and disengaged through the Gaza Strip.

In the Gaza Strip, hundreds marched around the key Israeli checkpoint.

Protests turned violent with the Qalandia checkpoint among Jerusalem and the West Bank town of Ramallah, where some demonstrators threw rocks at Israeli soldiers who fired tear gasoline and rubber bullets.

Sari, a pupil from Ramallah, explained the goal with the protests is always to call worldwide focus to your Palestinians’ cause. He additional that Israeli forces could have aided the demonstrators through the use of force.

“We want to prove towards the entire entire world that is employing violence. It’s evident. You know who is using violence today. Seem at me. Do I have something on me? No. We have been trained on strategies like (people of) Ghandi, like Martin Luther King, Mandela. We believe in that and we have been going to remain employing our nonviolent approaches till the entire world sees who is the actual oppressor,” said Sari.

The demonstrations would be the latest in a very sequence of coordinated protests referred to as by activists to arise just before September, when Palestinian leaders approach to visit the United Nations to use for full membership as an independent state.

The Palestinians are attempting to collect international help for the transfer, which they say these are pushing as a result of final year’s collapse of peace negotiations with Israel.
